SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 478
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
welcome members of the Texas Retired Teachers Association who are |
|
|
gathering in Austin on March 29, 2017, as part of Texas Retired |
|
|
Teachers Week; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Texas takes great pride in the state's public |
|
|
educators and in the invaluable service they provide to citizens; |
|
|
the Texas Retired Teachers Association was established to |
|
|
represent the state's many retired public educators, and this |
|
|
year, the association is celebrating Texas Retired Teachers Week |
|
|
March 27 through 31; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The 80,000 members of the Texas Retired Teachers |
|
|
Association continually work to improve local communities and |
|
|
have engaged in more than six million hours of volunteer service |
|
|
at schools and in educational programs throughout the state; many |
|
|
retired educators continue to promote lifelong learning in |
|
|
schools through the Children's Book Project, an endeavor that has |
|
|
provided more than 800,000 books to Texas children; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Members of the Texas Retired Teachers Association |
|
|
work diligently to protect the interests of current and future |
|
|
public education retirees in Texas, and they are indeed deserving |
|
|
of recognition for their support of Texas public educators and |
|
|
their contributions to local communities and the state; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend all associated with the Texas |
|
|
Retired Teachers Association and extend to them best wishes for a |
|
|
memorable Texas Retired Teachers Association Day at the State |
|
|
Capitol; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
the association as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
