SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 562
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
recognize the Texas A&M University men's track and field team, |
|
which won the 2017 National Collegiate Athletic Association |
|
Division I Indoor Track and Field Championship; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Aggies seized the school's first men's indoor |
|
track and field national championship on the strength of a win in |
|
the meet's final event, the 4x400-meter relay; the Aggies set a |
|
meet record with a time of 3:02.80 in the event and finished with |
|
a total of 46 points, edging out the University of Florida by half |
|
a point; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, These student athletes have demonstrated great |
|
talent and perseverance over the course of the season, and team |
|
members can take great pride in their outstanding performance; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Under the superior leadership and expertise of head |
|
coach Pat Henry and his staff, the Aggie men's track and field team |
|
have developed the exceptional teamwork and discipline essential |
|
to achieving this victory; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Texans everywhere are proud of the Aggies for their |
|
hard work, their impressive skills, and their fine sportsmanship; |
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|
Legislature, hereby extend congratulations to the Texas A&M |
|
University men's track and field team on winning the 2017 |
|
National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I Indoor Track |
|
and Field Championship; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
the team as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
