Donna Michelle Jones |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|
|
commemorates the life of Donna Michelle Jones, a beloved member |
|
|
of her community who touched the lives of others through her |
|
|
kindness, her wisdom, and her enthusiasm for living each day to |
|
|
the fullest; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Donna Jones was born on January 26, 1954, in |
|
|
Oswego, New York; she was the third of four children born to |
|
|
Mr. and Mrs. William Waller Jr.; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Donna was drawn to a life of service as a young |
|
|
woman, and she joined the United States Air Force in 1976; she |
|
|
served with distinction as a dental specialist in the Wilford |
|
|
Hall Medical Center at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, |
|
|
and she was honorably discharged in 1980, after having earned the |
|
|
rank of sergeant; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Following her military service, Donna enrolled at |
|
|
the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, and she |
|
|
graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in 1987; she had a |
|
|
passion for helping others, and she built a rewarding career as a |
|
|
caseworker; she worked on behalf of military veterans and members |
|
|
of the community who were living with HIV, and she helped those |
|
|
suffering with drug and alcohol addiction; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Donna Jones was a woman of integrity, strength, |
|
|
and generosity who gave unselfishly of her time to others; she |
|
|
was a woman of many talents and was beloved by many, and she |
|
|
leaves behind memories that will long be cherished by all who |
|
|
were privileged to share in her life; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|
|
family of Donna Michelle Jones; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|
|
Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|
|
memory of Donna Jones. |
