SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 585
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize Luis Magdaleno, a young business owner, for his many |
|
|
accomplishments and his contributions to the Rio Grande Valley; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Luis Magdaleno was born on December 14, 1988, in |
|
|
Brownsville, Texas, the only son of Margie Magdaleno and the late |
|
|
Joe Magdaleno Jr.; his parents instilled in him a strong work |
|
|
ethic and a sense of entrepreneurship; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Luis Magdaleno honors his parents by devoting his |
|
|
life and career to their legacy of service and stewardship through |
|
|
his business and community endeavors; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This distinguished Texan, a graduate of Homer |
|
|
Hanna High School and The University of Texas at Brownsville, is |
|
|
now the owner-operator of the Chick-fil-A Restaurant at 2709 |
|
|
Nolana Avenue in McAllen, Texas; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Through the opening of his restaurant, Luis |
|
|
Magdaleno expanded access to the workforce in Hidalgo County by |
|
|
creating 90 new employment opportunities; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Exemplifying his passion for fighting hunger in |
|
|
the community, Luis Magdaleno pledged 10,000 meals for Feeding |
|
|
Children Everywhere, a nonprofit organization, at the restaurant's |
|
|
Grand Opening celebration on March 23, 2017; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Luis Magdaleno is committed to serving his |
|
|
community as a partner with local schools and such organizations |
|
|
as the South Texas Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, and he |
|
|
is deserving of the state's recognition and praise; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend Luis Magdaleno and extend to him best |
|
|
wishes in his future endeavors; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
Luis Magdaleno as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
