SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 599
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Joe Sawyer
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
  commemorates the life of Joe Sawyer, who died March 22, 2017, at
  the age of 94; and
         WHEREAS, Joe Sawyer was born on May 4, 1922, in San Luis
  Potosi, Mexico, to Juanita and Cruz Losoya, and the family later
  immigrated to San Antonio; as a child of the Great Depression, he
  learned the values of hard work at an early age, and he continued
  to embrace hard work for the rest of his life; and
         WHEREAS, He served the nation with distinction in the
  United States Army during World War II; while stationed in
  England, he met and married the love of his life, the late Sheila
  Doreen Bones; the couple raised four sons together and were
  blessed with six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, He instilled in his sons his love of work and his
  belief in the importance of education, and all of his children
  have been successful in their careers; and
         WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and compassion, he
  gave generously to others, and his wisdom, warmth, and valued
  counsel will not be forgotten by those who were privileged to
  share in his life; and
         WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and
  grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured
  forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Joe Sawyer; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Joe Sawyer.
