SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 602
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize the public-spirited citizens from across the Lone Star
  State who are gathering in Austin on April 10, 2017, to advocate
  for women and their families during Blue Ribbon Lobby Day at the
  Capitol; and
         WHEREAS, Organized by progressive and Democratic women and
  leaders from around the state, Blue Ribbon Lobby Day was created
  to bring attention to issues important to Texas women, including
  public education, health care, and economic well-being; and
         WHEREAS, During this day of action, progressive and
  Democratic women are meeting with state legislators to discuss
  the message that women are integral to the economic success of
  this state and that the state's continued prosperity depends on
  ensuring that women have equal opportunities and that their
  rights are equally protected; and
         WHEREAS, Those who attend the day's events are wearing blue
  to signify their support of the cause and to raise awareness of a
  number of disheartening statistics, such as those indicating
  that Texas has the highest percentage of uninsured women in the
  country and that more than one-fourth of Texas children live in
  poverty, totaling some 1.7 million; and
         WHEREAS, Blue Ribbon Lobby Day is helping to raise the voices
  of women and their families and call attention to their concerns,
  and the event stands as a testament to the positive difference
  that engaged Texas women can make; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
  Legislature,herebyrecognizeApril10,2017,asBlueRibbonLobby
  Day at the Capitol and extend a warm welcome to the advocates who
  are visiting today; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in honor
  of Blue Ribbon Lobby Day.
