SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 610
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, which is
  celebrating 40 years of service at an anniversary luncheon on
  April 26, 2017; and
         WHEREAS, The Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce was
  established on March 2, 1977, by a small group of business
  leaders who sought to elevate Hispanic-owned businesses and
  advocate for the interests of the Hispanic business community;
  today, the chamber's growing membership is comprised of numerous
  entrepreneurs, executives, and firms from an array of
  industries; and
         WHEREAS, For the last 40 years, the chamber has served as a
  catalyst for local economic growth by connecting members with a
  strong network of local, national, and international
  partnerships and introducing them to new opportunities for
  business and commerce; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to serving Houston area businesses
  and entrepreneurs, the chamber advocates for the broader
  Hispanic community at the local, state, and national levels on
  such challenging issues as immigration reform, education, and
  health care; and
         WHEREAS, Under the current leadership of Dr. Laura
  Murillo, and with the support of a skilled staff and an active
  board of directors, the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
  continues to serve as a unified voice for its members and the
  Hispanic community in Houston; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
  Legislature, hereby commend all associated with the Houston
  Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for their work empowering Hispanic
  business leaders and congratulate them on 40 years of success;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the chamber as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
