SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 618

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Malnor Arthur on the grand occasion of her 100th birthday, which is being celebrated April 15, 2017; and

WHEREAS, A woman of great charm and grace, Malnor Arthur is noted for her talent and generous spirit, and she is a revered citizen of our state; and

WHEREAS, She has lived through times and experienced events that many people only know from history books; her life has given her a unique perspective on current events, and there is much to be learned from the wisdom she has gained over the years; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Arthur is a well-known figure in the Borger community and throughout Hutchinson County, and through the years, she has touched the lives of countless young people and area citizens; she holds two master's degrees from West Texas A&M University, and she taught English at Borger High School for 26 years; her many civic activities have included serving as president of the Borger Community Concert board and working with the Red Cross, the Borger Satellite School, and the Texas State Teachers Association; and

WHEREAS, Beloved and respected by many, Mrs. Arthur is famous for her warmth, her wit, and her wise counsel; today, she continues to play bridge and to host book clubs in her home, and her enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest is inspirational to all who are privileged to know her; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th Legislature, hereby extend best wishes to Malnor Arthur on her 100th birthday; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
