Reginald Stanley Kay |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|
commemorates the life of Reginald Stanley Kay, who died April 14, |
|
2017, at the age of 62; and |
|
WHEREAS, Stan Kay was born on October 25, 1954, in Bryan, |
|
to Walter Kay Jr. and Dr. Wauline Pierce Gamble; he graduated |
|
from La Vega High School in Waco, and he earned a degree from the |
|
University of North Texas, where he was a member of Alpha Phi |
|
Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated; he went on to serve his |
|
fraternity as president of the Alpha Sigma Lambda Chapter, and he |
|
was an active member of the Alpha Merit Group; and |
|
WHEREAS, He enjoyed a distinguished 35-year career in law |
|
enforcement as a member of the Dallas Police Department, and he |
|
earned the rank of lieutenant; he was also active in a wide range |
|
of community organizations, such as the March of Dimes and the |
|
American Red Cross; and |
|
WHEREAS, A devout Christian who practiced his faith in his |
|
daily life, he was a longtime member of New Birth Baptist Church, |
|
where he served on the usher board and as head of security; and |
|
WHEREAS, He took great pride in having raised his |
|
daughters, Rachel and Raquel, to become independent, successful |
|
women; he cherished the trips they took together with friends, |
|
and he was known for his outstanding tailgating parties during |
|
Dallas Cowboys games; and |
|
WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and compassion, he |
|
gaveunselfishlytoothers,andhiswisdom,warmth,andvalued |
|
counsel will not be forgotten by his family and countless |
|
friends; and |
|
WHEREAS, He was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, |
|
and friend, and he leaves behind memories that will be cherished |
|
forever by all who were privileged to share in his life; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|
family of Reginald Stanley Kay; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|
Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|
memory of Stan Kay. |
