SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 741
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize Mary Ann Whiteker, who is retiring as superintendent |
|
|
of schools for the Hudson Independent School District after a |
|
|
distinguished 44-year career in the field of education; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mary Ann Whiteker has served as superintendent of |
|
|
schools for 22 years; she began her career in education in 1973 as |
|
|
a teacher in the Corrigan-Camden Independent School District; |
|
|
she joined the Hudson Independent School District in 1986 as the |
|
|
district curriculum director, and she became superintendent of |
|
|
schools in 1995; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A highly skilled educational administrator, Mary |
|
|
Ann Whiteker has guided the district through an era of measurable |
|
|
success and has expanded academic opportunities for students; |
|
|
the district and campuses have received numerous state |
|
|
recognized distinctions for excellence during her tenure, and |
|
|
under her leadership, the district opened a county-wide high |
|
|
school for students at-risk of dropping out that has, to date, |
|
|
graduated more than 1,500 students; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mary Ann Whiteker has served in leadership |
|
|
positions for the Texas Association of School Administrators, |
|
|
and she is a past president of the Texas Association of Mid-Size |
|
|
Schools; a recipient of numerous commendations, she is an |
|
|
accomplished speaker and author, and the students, faculty, and |
|
|
staff of the Hudson Independent School District have greatly |
|
|
benefited from her diligence and expertise; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend Mary Ann Whiteker on her outstanding |
|
|
career in education and her exemplary work on behalf of Texas |
|
|
children and extend to her best wishes in all her endeavors; and, |
|
|
be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her |
|
|
as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
