SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 803
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize STCH Ministries on the occasion of the organization's |
|
|
65th anniversary; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, STCH Ministries was founded in 1952 under the |
|
|
leadership of Laura Boothe and the Reverend Jess Lunsford; |
|
|
originally known as the South Texas Children's Home, this |
|
|
outstanding nonprofit organization has through the years created |
|
|
a culture in which the needs of families are seen and met in |
|
|
creative and innovative ways; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, STCH Ministries continues to provide loving, |
|
|
compassionate homes for children in need, but it has expanded its |
|
|
offerings to include such services as family counseling, homes |
|
|
for single mothers and their children, an international |
|
|
ministry, money management and job training, support for pastors |
|
|
and their families, and ministry consulting services to help |
|
|
other organizations better assist their clients; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, STCH Ministries has also created two entities to |
|
|
help itself remain financially able to continue providing its |
|
|
services, the South Texas Children's Home financial branch and |
|
|
South Texas Children's Home Land Management; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, STCH Ministries has had a profound impact on the |
|
|
lives of children and families in need for 65 years, and the |
|
|
organization is truly deserving of special recognition as it |
|
|
achieves this milestone in its history; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend the leadership and staff of STCH |
|
|
Ministries on their commitment to serving others, and extend to |
|
|
them best wishes for a memorable 65th anniversary celebration; |
|
|
and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
this exemplary organization as an expression of esteem from the |
|
|
Texas Senate. |
