SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 804
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize Jesús Garza, who is retiring as president and chief |
|
|
executive officer of the Seton Healthcare Family and as senior |
|
|
vice president of Ascension Health's Texas Ministry Market; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Jesús Garza joined the Seton Healthcare Family in |
|
|
2002 after a distinguished career in private and public sector |
|
|
leadership; he had served as deputy general manager of the Lower |
|
|
Colorado River Authority and as city manager for the City of |
|
|
Austin; during his tenure, he led the city through its downtown |
|
|
revitalization and a period of great economic and population |
|
|
expansion; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A graduate of The University of Texas and the |
|
|
Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs, Mr. Garza has been |
|
|
instrumental in establishing community partnerships, including |
|
|
the partnership with Central Health and The University of Texas |
|
|
at Austin that led to the establishment of the Dell Seton Medical |
|
|
Center at The University of Texas; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Known for his vision and his ability to bring out |
|
|
the best in others, he is active in a wide range of community and |
|
|
professional organizations, such as the board of directors of the |
|
|
San Antonio branch of the Federal Reserve, the American Hospital |
|
|
Association Governing Council, the Catholic Foundation--Diocese |
|
|
of Austin Board of Directors, and United Way of Greater Austin; |
|
|
he received the 2016 Career Achievement Award from the National |
|
|
Association of Latino Healthcare Executives; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, An exceptional administrator and public servant, |
|
|
Jesús Garza is respected and admired by his colleagues, and it is |
|
|
truly fitting that he receive special recognition on the occasion |
|
|
of his retirement; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend Jesús Garza on his exceptional |
|
|
leadership with the Seton Healthcare Family and Ascension |
|
|
Health's Texas Ministry Market and extend to him best wishes for |
|
|
continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
