SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 804
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Jesús Garza, who is retiring as president and chief
  executive officer of the Seton Healthcare Family and as senior
  vice president of Ascension Health's Texas Ministry Market; and
         WHEREAS, Jesús Garza joined the Seton Healthcare Family in
  2002 after a distinguished career in private and public sector
  leadership; he had served as deputy general manager of the Lower
  Colorado River Authority and as city manager for the City of
  Austin; during his tenure, he led the city through its downtown
  revitalization and a period of great economic and population
  expansion; and
         WHEREAS, A graduate of The University of Texas and the
  Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs, Mr. Garza has been
  instrumental in establishing community partnerships, including
  the partnership with Central Health and The University of Texas
  at Austin that led to the establishment of the Dell Seton Medical
  Center at The University of Texas; and
         WHEREAS, Known for his vision and his ability to bring out
  the best in others, he is active in a wide range of community and
  professional organizations, such as the board of directors of the
  San Antonio branch of the Federal Reserve, the American Hospital
  Association Governing Council, the Catholic Foundation--Diocese
  of Austin Board of Directors, and United Way of Greater Austin;
  he received the 2016 Career Achievement Award from the National
  Association of Latino Healthcare Executives; and
         WHEREAS, An exceptional administrator and public servant,
  Jesús Garza is respected and admired by his colleagues, and it is
  truly fitting that he receive special recognition on the occasion
  of his retirement; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
  Legislature, hereby commend Jesús Garza on his exceptional
  leadership with the Seton Healthcare Family and Ascension
  Health's Texas Ministry Market and extend to him best wishes for
  continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
