SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 805
         WHEREAS, Carl Keller is retiring from Medina Valley High
  School in Castroville at the end of the 2016-2017 academic year,
  drawing to a close a notable tenure that has spanned more than a
  quarter century; and
         WHEREAS, A longtime Medina County resident, Mr. Keller
  graduated as a member of the Class of 1970 at Medina Valley High;
  during his student days there, he distinguished himself as a
  gifted athlete on the baseball and football teams, and he
  continues to share the school record for most stolen bases in a
  season with 28 thefts; after earning a bachelor's degree from
  Saint Mary's University, he spent over a decade and a half
  working in tractor sales, and he served on the Medina Valley
  Independent School District Board of Trustees for two years
  before joining the faculty of Medina Valley High in 1990; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to teaching history and chairing the
  social studies department, Mr. Keller has served as head
  baseball coach and as an assistant football coach at Medina
  Valley High; during his 18 seasons at the helm of the Panthers
  baseball team, he has tallied more than 400 victories and guided
  his athletes to 11 consecutive and 15 overall playoff berths,
  including an appearance in the 2008 University Interscholastic
  League 3A state semifinals; and
         WHEREAS, Retirement will afford Mr. Keller the opportunity
  to spend more time with his beloved family, including his wife of
  45 years, Brenda, his four sons, Jesse, Joseph, Joshua, and
  Jedediah, and his five grandchildren, as well as to delight in
  his favorite hobbies of reading, listening to music, and
  gardening; and
         WHEREAS, Carl Keller's athletic expertise and his ability
  to educate and inspire students have enabled him to make a
  positive difference in the lives of countless young people, and
  he may indeed reflect with pride on his many achievements as a
  coach and teacher; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
  Legislature, hereby congratulate Carl Keller on the occasion of
  his retirement from Medina Valley High School and extend to him
  sincere best wishes for continued happiness and fulfillment;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  Mr. Keller as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
