Dickie Lee Person |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|
|
commemorates the life of Dickie Lee Person, who died May 6, 2017, |
|
|
at the age of 75; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Dickie Person was born on December 13, 1941, in |
|
|
Mexia, Texas; he touched the lives of others through his humor, |
|
|
his wisdom, and his enthusiasm for living each day to the |
|
|
fullest; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, After finishing school in Mexia, Mr. Person began |
|
|
a career with the Atlantic Richfield Oil Company; he worked at |
|
|
several locations in Texas and Louisiana, and he transferred to |
|
|
George West in 1969; he continued to work in the area until his |
|
|
retirement from ARCO in 1994; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A devoted family man, Mr. Person shared 54 years |
|
|
of marriage with Violet Hessel Person, and they were blessed with |
|
|
three children and with much-cherished grandchildren; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Dickie Person was a man of deep spiritual |
|
|
devotion, and he served in several leadership positions at the |
|
|
First United Methodist Church of George West; he was a past |
|
|
president of the George West Little League Association, and he |
|
|
served as a referee for high school football for 43 years; he most |
|
|
recently expressed his love for the City of George West by |
|
|
serving as mayor; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A man of courage, compassion, and strong |
|
|
principles,DickiePersonwasbelovedbymany,andheleaves |
|
|
behind memories that will long be treasured by all who were |
|
|
privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|
|
family of Dickie Lee Person; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|
|
Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|
|
memory of Dickie Person. |
