No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Election Code relating to the early voting period.

The Secretary of State assumes any additional work associated with implementing provisions of the bill could be absorbed using existing resources.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2017.


Local Government Impact

According to the Texas Municipal League, the bill would have a positive fiscal impact on municipalities. The cost to municipalities to conduct early voting varies from municipality to municipality depending upon the number of polling places and staffing.
