The bill would amend the Civil Practice and Remedies Code to allow a person with control over a business that forbids the carrying of a licensed handgun to be held liable for any damages that may have been prevented by a licensed handgun holder. The bill provides immunity to a person with control over a business that permits the carrying of a licensed handgun. Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration and Department of Public Safety, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.
