Honorable Dan Huberty, Chair, House Committee on Public Education
FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB481 by King, Ken (Relating to the recovery of overallocated state funds by the Texas Education Agency.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would prohibit the Texas Education Agency (TEA) from recovering an overallocation of state funds distributed under the Foundation School Program if the overallocation of state funds occurred more than seven years before the date the overallocation was discovered, and the overallocation occurred as a result of statutory changes and related requirements.
TEA indicates that no overallocations that are more than seven years old have been identified in recent years.
The bill would take effect September 1, 2017.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
