Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 21, 2017

TO:
Honorable Harold V. Dutton, Jr., Chair, House Committee on Juvenile Justice & Family Issues

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB610 by Leach (Relating to procedures for presenting certain evidence at placement review hearings in suits affecting the parent-child relationship involving the Department of Family and Protective Services.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require the notice of hearing provided to certain individuals to state that the individual may, but is not required, to present evidence at the hearing. The bill would also require the court to call the individual, and the individual, at the individual's discretion, may appear at the hearing, present evidence, and be heard regardless of whether either party calls the individual to testify.

According to the Office of Court Administration, any cost associated with implementing this bill can be absorbed within the agency's existing resources. The Department of Family and Protective Services does not anticipate a fiscal impact as a result of implementing this bill.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
