The bill would amend the Education Code to change the timing related to the first day of instruction at public schools. The bill would allow districts to begin school with the second, rather than fourth, Monday in August. The bill makes a corresponding change to allow schools operating on a year-round basis to begin providing instruction before the second Monday in August.
