IN RE:
HB625 by Johnson, Jarvis (Relating to the regular psychological examination of peace officers by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Occupations Code to require each peace officer submit to a psychological examination every two years. The bill would require the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement to adopt procedures to ensure the provisions of the bill are implemented. It is assumed any costs associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within current resources.
The bill would take effect September 1, 2017.
Local Government Impact
The bill could result in possible, if undetermined, fiscal impacts to those local law enforcement agencies currently not requiring biennial psychological examinations.
