IN RE:
HB631 by Howard (Relating to a public awareness campaign on firearm safety and suicide prevention.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Government Code to require the Department of Public Safety to develop and implement a public awareness campaign on firearm safety and suicide prevention. The bill would also require the agency to pay the costs of the campaign using funds only from the proceeds of fees collected under Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code, gifts grants, or donations, matching funds, and funds received from the federal government. The Department of Public Safety indicates that the costs to implement the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.
The bill would take effect September 1, 2017.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
