Honorable Larry Taylor, Chair, Senate Committee on Education

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB639 by Anderson, Charles "Doc" (Relating to authorizing the purchase of certain insurance coverage by public schools for the benefit of businesses and students participating in career and technology programs and providing for immunity from liability of certain public school students participating in career and technology programs.), As Engrossed

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would permit the board of trustees of a school district or the governing body of an open-enrollment charter school to purchase accident, liability, or automobile insurance coverage for the benefit of businesses or students participating in career or technology training programs.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated. School districts could incur additional costs to expand insurance coverage, but these costs would be voluntary.
