FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

TO:
Honorable Joe Moody, Chair, House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB670 by Canales (Relating to the expunction of arrest records and files relating to certain nonviolent misdemeanor offenses.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure to allow the expunction of an individual's criminal records under certain circumstances. It is assumed the costs of implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.

This bill would take effect September 1, 2017.

Local Government Impact

The bill could result in possible, if undetermined, fiscal impacts on local law enforcement agencies, to the degree local law enforcement agencies maintain records subject to expunction or are involved in the expunction process.
