No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend Health and Safety Code to require the Health and Human Services Commission to develop a standard information form for survivors of sexual assault. The bill would also require health care facilities to convey the information in the form to survivors of sexual assault, to inform the survivor of the availability of emergency contraception, and provide the survivor with emergency contraception at the survivor's request. The bill would take effect September 1, 2017.
According to the Health and Human Services Commission, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.
