No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Family Code to authorize the county clerk and any deputy appointed by the clerk to conduct marriage ceremonies in certain counties. This authorization would apply for marriages in which one of the participants is a member of the United States armed forces in active-duty status. The clerk or deputy clerk shall collect a fee for this ceremony and deposit the fee in the county treasury for funding certain types of charitable organizations.
According to the Office of Court Administration, no significant fiscal impact on the state court system is anticipated.
This bill would apply to a marriage ceremony conducted on or after September 1, 2017.
