No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code to require the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) to adopt a policy to prohibit certain offenders from soliciting pen pals. According to TDCJ, no significant fiscal impact is anticipated. The bill would take effect on September 1, 2017.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
