LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 29, 2017

TO:
Honorable J. M. Lozano, Chair, House Committee on Higher Education

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB836 by Clardy (Relating to a requirement that certain participating institutions under the student loan program administered by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board provide loan debt information to certain students.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require certain higher education institutions that participate in the student loan program administered by the Higher Education Coordinating Board to provide loan debt information to students. This analysis assumes that any costs for institutions of higher education to implement the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within current resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
