No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Family Code relating to assisting certain children who are in foster care in the process of applying to institutions of higher education. Based on information provided by the Department of Family and Protective Services and the Texas Education Agency, it is assumed that duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.
The bill would take effect immediately upon a vote of two-thirds of each house, otherwise the bill would take effect September 1, 2017.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
