No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would require the Commissioner of Education to grant an additional charter to a charter holder if the additional charter is for an open-enrollment charter school that will continue a campus operated by the charter holder and as of January 1, 2013, the campus primarily served students with disabilities and provided a full-time online program.
Based on information provided by the Texas Education Agency, the costs to implement the provisions of the bill are not anticipated to be significant.
The bill would take effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all members in each chamber; otherwise, it would take effect September 1, 2017.
