No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) to review instances when an offender absconded from certain private facilities operated under contract with TDCJ.  The bill would direct TDCJ to analyze certain factors that may have contributed to the escape. TDCJ shall report recommendations by December 1, 2018. According to TDCJ, no significant fiscal impact is anticipated to comply with the provisions of the bill. The bill would take effect September 1, 2017 and expire June 1, 2019.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
