No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Local Government Code to remove a statutory cap on the size of the petty cash fund administered by the county welfare department that is available for use to the transportation and other expenses of paupers. The bill would apply to certain populous counties.
The bill would take effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house; otherwise, the bill would take effect September 1, 2017.

According to Harris and Dallas counties, the bill would have no fiscal impact.
