HB1098 by Canales (Relating to the amount of late fees that may be charged to certain tenants.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Property Code prohibiting a landlord charging a participant in the housing choice voucher program an initial late fee or daily fee in which the total amount exceeds five percent of the rent owed.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2017.  

Local Government Impact

According to the Texas Association of Counties (TAC), no fiscal impact to local government is anticipated.
