LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 13, 2017

TO:
Honorable John T. Smithee, Chair, House Committee on Judiciary & Civil Jurisprudence

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1103 by Hernandez (Relating to excluding a person on the suspense list from jury duty and the use of the address of a person submitted by the voter registrar to the secretary of state in preparing a jury wheel.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code relating to excluding a person on the suspense list from jury duty and the use of the address of a person submitted by the voter registrar to the secretary of state in preparing a jury wheel.

This analysis assumes any additional work associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed by the Secretary of State using existing resources.

The bill would take effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, or on September 1, 2017.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
