No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Family Code to require a petition for dissolution of a marriage to state whether a party to the marriage is pregnant or whether the parties to the marriage have a gestational agreement. The bill would also afford standing to an intended parent of a child under any gestational agreement in certain circumstances.
According to the Office of Court Administration, the bill might increase the number of cases filed, but it anticipates any increased workload would likely be absorbed by existing resources.
