No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend Government Code relating to the disclosure of interested parties by business entities contracting with governmental entities and state agencies; authorizing a civil penalty. Based on information provided by the Ethics Commission and Office of the Attorney General, this analysis assumes that any costs associated with implementing the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.
The bill would take effect September 1, 2017 and would apply to a contract entered into or amended on or after January 1, 2018.
Local Government Impact
According to the Texas Association of Counties, Hidalgo County and Travis County reported the fiscal impact would not be significant.
