FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1409 by Israel (Relating to reporting concerning certain inmates who are confined in county jails for misdemeanor offenses.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would add two categories to required monthly population reporting by counties to the Commission on Jail Standards (TCJS) and would require TCJS to publish the report on its website. TCJS anticipates any additional work resulting from the provisions of the bill could be reasonably absorbed within current resources.

Local Government Impact

According to the Texas Association of Counties, the fiscal impact to counties to implement the provisions of the bill is not anticipated to be significant.
