LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 29, 2017

TO:
Honorable John Frullo, Chair, House Committee on Culture, Recreation & Tourism

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1447 by Wu (relating to the creation of a certificate program to promote travel to and throughout this state; authorizing fees.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Transportation Code to require the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), to create a tourism certificate program that includes the issuance of a certificate to an individual for visiting various locations in Texas upon payment of a fee determined by TxDOT.

Based on the analysis of TxDOT, it is assumed the agency could absorb the costs of implementing the provisions of the bill within existing resources and the implementation of a fee for the certificate program would not result in a significant fiscal impact to the State.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
