FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB1500 by Giddings (Relating to indicators of achievement under the public school accountability system.), As Engrossed
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill's provisions would expand the components of Domain 4 of the Texas public school accountability system to include the percentage of students who earn an associate degree.
The bill would take effect September 1, 2017, or immediately if passed with the necessary voting margins, and would apply beginning with school year 2017-18.
Local Government Impact
Districts would need to create an administrative process to work with local colleges to collect and report data on students who earn an associate degree. The costs associated with this requirement would vary by district.
