Honorable Dan Huberty, Chair, House Committee on Public Education
FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB1516 by Leach (Relating to the authority of a school district to excuse from school attendance a student who is exempt from the administration of a final examination.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would authorize a school district to excuse a student from attending school during the administration of a final examination for a course in which the student is enrolled if the school district allows the student, because of a good attendance record and high student academic achievement, to be exempt from the administration of the final exam.
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) assumes that any costs associated with implementing the provisions of the bill would not be significant.
The bill would apply beginning with the 2017-18 school year.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
