FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 27, 2017

TO:
Honorable Tracy O. King, Chair, House Committee on Agriculture & Livestock

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1535 by Farrar (Relating to the prohibition of certain pesticides on public road rights-of-way.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Texas Agriculture Code to require the Department of Agriculture (TDA) to prohibit the application of a neonicotinoid pesticide to the right-of-way of a public road or highway. The bill would require TDA to implement the provisions of the bill no later than 90 days after the effective date of the Act.

TDA indicates that duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished with existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
