No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Transportation Code adding a municipality with a population of more than 3,000 and less than 10,000 that contains a highway that is part of the national interstate system, and is located in a county with a population between 150,000 and 155,000. A municipality that meets the requirements may apply for certification to enforce commercial motor vehicle safety.
The bill would take effect September 1, 2017.
