FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB1669 by King, Tracy O. (Relating to certain complaints concerning a student's participation in an extracurricular activity.), As Engrossed
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would not require a local district board of trustees to hear grievances about extracurricular participation unless the grievance alleges a violation of parental rights under Texas Education Code Chapter 26.
The bill would take effect September 1, 2017.
Local Government Impact
School districts may experience minimal cost savings for complaints they may no longer have to address as a result of this legislation.
