HB1683 by Fallon (Relating to the early voting period.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Election Code relating to the early voting period.

The bill would repeal Section 85.001(b) and (e) of the Election  Code.

The Secretary of State assumes any additional work associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed using existing resources.

The bill would take effect on January 1, 2018.

Local Government Impact

According to the Texas Municipal League, the bill could save municipalities money that would be spent on election expenses such as staff time and polling places.
