FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 4, 2017

TO:
Honorable Robert Nichols, Chair, Senate Committee on Transportation

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1691 by Smithee (Relating to the designation of certain rest areas on Interstate Highway 27 in Hale County as the Nelda Laney Safety Stops.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Transportation Code to require the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to design, construct, and erect markers designating the rest areas located on Interstate Highway 27 in Hale County as the Nelda Laney Safety Stops provided that a grant or donation of private funds is made to TxDOT to cover the costs.

TxDOT indicates that any duties associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within the agency's current resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
