No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Government Code to define peace officers eligible for membership in the reserve officer corps at the Department of Public Safety according to the definition of peace officer provided in Article 2.12 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. It is assumed any costs associated with implementing the bill could be absorbed within current resources.
The bill would take effect September 1, 2017.
