HB1867 by González, Mary (Relating to the applicability of educator certification and assignment requirements to school districts of innovation.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill specifies that districts of innovation are not exempt from educator certification requirements under Chapter 21 and requirements under federal law regarding the assignment of educators for bilingual education and special education with a district of innovation.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2017, or immediately if passed with the necessary voting margins.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated. The bill may result in some costs for districts of innovation, but participation as a district of innovation is voluntary.
