LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 1, 2017

TO:
Honorable Carol Alvarado, Chair, House Committee on Urban Affairs

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1879 by Romero, Jr. ( Relating to a study on migrant labor housing facilities.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) to conduct a study evaluating migrant labor housing facilities. Under the provisions of the bill, TDHCA would be required to submit a written report on the findings of the study, recommendations for appropriate actions, and a timeline for implementing the recommendations to the legislature by September 1, 2018.

TDHCA estimates there would be a minimal cost associated with implementing the provisions of the bill.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
