No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Government Code to prohibit any attorney from using a name, letterhead, or other professional designation that is false, misleading, or deceptive. The bill would allow attorneys to practice under a trade name under certain circumstances. The bill would prohibit the Texas Supreme Court from making any rules to the contrary. Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished using existing resources.
