No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Business and Commerce Code to expand the list of items in which a consumer reporting agency may not charge a fee to include the placement, temporary lifting, or removal of a security freeze resulting from a consumer's sensitive personal information being disclosed as a result of a breach of system security.
The Office of the Attorney General anticipates any additional work resulting from the passage of the bill could be reasonably absorbed within current resources.
The bill would take effect September 1, 2017.
