LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 7, 2017

TO:
Honorable John Kuempel, Chair, House Committee on Licensing & Administrative Procedures

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2022 by Goldman (Relating to warning signs applicable to the carrying of weapons on the premises of certain holders of alcoholic beverage licenses and permits.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Alcoholic Beverage Code and the Government Code to eliminate the requirement that certain establishments licensed by the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission post a sign on the permit holder's premises indicating that it is unlawful for a person to carry a weapon on the premises unless the weapon is a handgun the person is licensed to carry. It is assumed the costs to implement the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2017.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
